Thank you to all of those who came to our Latin Dance Workshop! I hope everyone had fun and learned some dance steps.

Announcements & Upcoming Events:


  • Date: Monday, April 2nd
  • We will have elections for our next year’s E-board, so if you are interested in running for a leadership role within SHPE, this is your chance!
  • All positions are opened and you can run for as many positions as you want, just make sure to create a good speech ????
  • We will explain what each position is about and other details on our meeting on Monday, so make sure to come if you would like to run for a position 🙂
Senior Design Panel
  • Date: Wednesday, April 4th
  • Time & Location: 7:00PM – 9:00PM, SAC Ballroom B
  • Come through and learn about Senior Design, what is expected and required for your final projects as an Engineering Students. 
  • Professors from different Engineering Departments will share their expectations and answer any questions you may have about it. In addition, seniors will present their projects and share their insights. 
  • Food & refreshments will be provided. 
Spring Retreat
  • Date: Saturday, April 7th
  • This is a great opportunity to bond with SHPEitos and participate in team building activities as well as building up leadership skills. The event will be outdoors and will have lunch provided.
  • All members are encouraged to come, but if you are thinking about becoming an E-board member, this event is highly recommended!
  • We will have Cindy Leiton as our guest speaker.
Project Management & Entrepreneur Workshop
  • Date: Tuesday, April 17th (UPDATED)
  • Time & Location: 7:00PM – 9:00PM, SSO 122
  • This is a great opportunity to learn about project management and entrepreneurship skills, highly recommended in the work field. Professors experts in the area will present and teach you the basic concepts.
  • Food & refreshments will be provided.
Noche de Ciencias
  • This year will have two Noches: Longwood and Brentwood High Schools, on April 11th and 18th, respectively.
  • We will have volunteering and project committees, so if you are interested in being part of any of them and contribute to this big event make sure to come to our general body meetings or send us an email to sbshpe@gmail.com so we can provide you with all the information and what is required of you.
  • Great opportunity to be involved with SHPE, develop your leadership skill while contributing to the community and something to include in your resume, so keep that in mind. ????
Sweaters are HERE!!
  • If you ordered a SHPE sweater, we will have them in our general body meeting on Monday so you can pick it up, if you are not able to come, email us at sbshpe@gmail.com to make sure you get your sweater!
  • To pay for it, you can do it through Venmo @Chris-Quilla with a note of your size or bring $20 cash on Monday’s meeting.
ATTENTION SENIORS ~ Ordering Graduation Stoles
  • For all graduating seniors in spring 2018, graduation stole orders are open until April 15th.
  • Before ordering, you need to be a paid and active SHPE member for at least one year, your graduation date is updated on SHPEConnect and have your SHPE ID ready!

Engineering Ball
  • Date: April 5th
  • Time & Location: 7:00PM-10:00PMFlowerfield in St. James, NY
  • Tickets for Engineering Ball are currently on sale in the CEAS Undergraduate Student Office,

    room 231 Engineering Bldg, Mon – Fri from 10 am to 4 pm.

  • If you are planning to buy your ticket, they are at the regular student price which is

     $30 until sold out.

    SHPE tables are 22 and 18, so you can pick those to share with shpeito members!

Summer Research Position – Project Developing Software 
  • This is an opportunity for members of the SBU LSAMP Program in Computer Science.
