We would like to thank all of those who were able to volunteer for this week’s Noche de Ciencias at Longwood High School. We have our next Noche coming up this week so I hope to see everyone there!

Announcements & Upcoming Events:

Project Management & Entrepreneur Workshop
  • Date: Tuesday, April 17th
  • Time & Location: 7PM – 9PM, SAC 305 (UPDATED)
  • This is a great opportunity to learn about project management and entrepreneurship skills, highly recommended in the work field. Professors experts in the area will present and teach you the basic concepts.
  • Food & refreshments will be provided.
Noche de Ciencias
  • This Wednesday, April 18th from 7PM-9PM will have our second Noche at Brentwood High School.
  • If you signed up for a committee make sure you come to this Monday meeting @7PM to prepare for it, also, if you are going and need a ride, let us know ๐Ÿ™‚
  • Great opportunity to be involved with SHPE, develop your leadership skill while contributing to the community and something to include in your resume, so keep that in mind. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
ROTH REGATTA
  • Date: Friday, April 27th
  • This year’s theme for Roth Regatta is Cartoon Network vs Nickelodeon! Antonio Gambra is our captain for this year ๐Ÿ˜€ If we would like to help us make the boat contact us so we can add your number to the GroupMe chat.
  • We have a list of options:
      • Fairly odd parents
      • Drake and Josh
      • Dexter lab
      • Jimmy Neutron
      • Ed,Edd n Eddy
  • This Monday’s meeting will discuss what topic we will choose for this year and if you have any other ideas make sure to come.
  • We will construct the boat in Mount College, located in Roth Quad since we will be collaborating with them.
Alumni BBQ
  • Date & Time: Saturday, April 28th, 11AM-3PM
  • Location: Sunken Meadows Park, 1 Sunken Meadow Pkwy, Kings Park, NY 11754
  • Come out and enjoy delicious grilled burgers and hot dogs while having the opportunity to connect and network with SHPE alumni! We will have great activities (potentially a water balloon fight if the weather helps ????) just mark this day on your calendars ๐Ÿ˜‰

ATTENTION SENIORS ~ Ordering Graduation Stoles
  • For all graduating seniors in spring 2018, graduation stole orders are open until April 15th. (THIS SUNDAY)
  • Before ordering, you need to be a paid and active SHPE member for at least one year, your graduation date is updated on SHPEConnect and have your SHPE ID ready!
  • To order check on the tab “Graduation Stoles” on the SHPE connect home page and submit your order request.

Opportunities:
Summer Research Position – Project Developing Software
  • This is an opportunity for members of the SBU LSAMP Program in Computer Science.
  • The strongest applicants will have some experience with the following languages: PHP, MySQL, JAVA, Script, and HTML5.
  • Dates: June – August 2018
  • There are 3-4 positions available and a stipend of $4,500 for 10 weeks approximately 30 hrs per week.
