Event Chairs

  • We have two main events this semester that will require an event chair
  • Noche De Ciencias – Longwood
  • Noche De Ciencias – Brentwood
  • The main objectives for the event chairs are:
  • Keeps goals and objectives of SHPE events
  • Acts as a liaison between speakers, panelists, presenters, and our chapter
  • Arranges food orders and delivery (may be done by any member if necessary), AV equipment, presentations and marketing for the event

BlackRock Founder Scholarship

  • Deadline: August 16th at 8am
  • It is an accelerated application process for rising juniors, through which you can obtain a summer internship at BlackRock, and also be considered for a $17,500 merit award
  • Eligible participants identify as Black, Hispanic, Native American, LGBTQ+ or disabled, and will graduate between December 2019 and July 2020
  • To apply visit the website to learn more about the Summer Analyst Program and submit an application for up to two business divisions
  • Make sure to check the box for the BlackRock Founders Scholarship
  • Complete the virtual cover letter
  • If you are selected to interview, you can also submit a short essay to be considered for the $17,500 scholarship award

Graduate School Preview Day

  • Friday, August 17th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm in Stony Brook, NY
  • At GSPD, you’ll have a chance to hear from our diverse scholars, who will share their path to the PhD
  • We’ll also have Graduate Program Directors and Admissions Faculty discuss what makes an application stand out – and what steps you can take now to enhance your chances of getting in
  • All domestic attendees will receive a graduate application fee waiver ($100 value) for the Fall 2019 admissions cycle

National Conference Registration

  • Early Bird Registration Deadline: August 31st
  • Early bird registration costs $225
  • Regular Registration Deadline: September 30
  • The price increases to $275
  • From October 1st to onsite
  • Price increases again to $350
  • If you are interested in going we implore you to take advantage of the early bird registration
  • This is a great opportunity to network and meet professionals to secure internships/full-time
  • Some of the biggest companies from Google to Boeing will be there

AB’s Technology & Operations Program info Session for Students

  • Deadline: Open Now
  • We invite you to join us at our global headquaters to learn about career opportunities within the Technology & Operations Program at AB, a leading global investment management firm
  • Tuesday, August 7th, 2:00pm – 4:00pm @ AB’s NYC Midtown Headquarters completing four, six-month rotations, before joining a permenant team.

  • Have a group of professionals from across industry look at your resume
  • Potential to have internships/full-time opportunities at places like Google

  • There are online seminars and many other resources at your disposal

Ladders for Leaders

  • Ladders for leaders is a nationally recognized program that offers high school and college students the opportunity to participate in paid summer internships within the NYC area
  • It gives students the unique opportunity to explore their interests and discover new ones
  • You will get Pre-employment training: resume help and cover letter writing and interviewing skills
  • Paid Summer Internships: need I say more
