Weekly Update 4/15

Hola SHPEitos,
And now our watch has ended, with Games of Thrones back every GBM will be dedicated to talking about the show and coming up theories about what will happen next.

GBM

We will have our weekly scheduled GBM on Wednesday from 7-8 pm in the library in W4535. We will talk more about the boat and of course Game of Thrones.

Events

Latin Dance Workshop

  • The event will be held TOMORROW in SAC BALLROOM A from 7-9pm
  • Learn from the great Geuris all about Latin Dance
  • There will be light refreshments

Alumni BBQ

  • This will be held on Saturday 4/27 from 11-3pm in Sunken Meadow Park
  • Have a relaxing day with your fellow SHPE members, and talk with the alumni in a very informal manner.
  • We will be hosting our second annual SHPEies.
  • Beat Gabe at basketball

Roth Regatta

  • We are working with Mount this semester and will begin working on the boat hopefully this week
  • If you are interested in helping to build the boat please fill out this form
  • We will discuss the boat in more depth at the upcoming GBM
  • If you have any cardboard please bring it to us
  • Roth Regatta is held on May 3rd.

Opportunites

SWE Game Night

  • Will be held on Wednesday April 17th, from 7:30-11pm
  • SHPE will have a team so please come down to support us
  • It will be a good time so please come on down and relax.

Karaoke Night with CSTEP

  • Held on Friday April 23rd from 7-9 pm in Tabler Black Box
  • Come on down and sing your heart out it will be a great time to all that go
  • Hear the beautiful singing voices of your fellow SHPEitos

Great Minds in STEM Scholarship

  • Basic Scholarship Requirements:
  • Applicants must demonstrate merit through academic achievements, leadership and campus/community activities
  • Applicants must be pursuing a science, technology, engineering or mathdegree
  • Applicants must have an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Applicants must be of Hispanic descent and/or must significantly demonstrate leadership or service within the under served community
  • Recipients must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program for the upcoming fall semester, at an accredited 2-yr or 4-yr college/university in the U.S. or its territories
  • Scholarship Recipients Will Receive:
  • A merit-based scholarship ranging in amounts from $500 to $10,000.  Information on the types of available scholarships can be viewed here.
  • Listing in the GMiS Scholars press release
  • Transportation support to the annual HENAAC Conference, where Scholars are presented with their scholarship alongside the sponsor. The 2019 HENAAC Conference will he held at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL from September 25 – 29, 2019. Scholars will be provided travel beginning Wednesday, September 25
